One
A chat tab in your shop admin, next to Orders and Products. Nothing to connect and no permission screen — you are already signed in, so it can reach exactly what your own account can. Pick which areas it may use, and switch them any time.
With WordPress AI there is no API key to find. For the rest you paste your own.
Two
Keep working where you already are. Your shop gives you one address to paste into the app, the app opens a permission screen in your browser, and from then on it can work with your store in the same conversation as everything else.
Each app gets its own permissions, and its own revoke button.

Staying in control
Connecting an assistant takes about a minute, and there is no key to copy or paste anywhere.
When an assistant asks to connect, your shop opens a permission screen. You tick what it may do and press approve — nothing happens until you do.
Let it read orders but not change them. Give it products and nothing else. Anything that changes data is marked and never ticked for you.
Store settings and maintenance tools refuse to run until the assistant has told you exactly what will change and you have agreed. New products and posts are always created as drafts, and a deleted product goes to the trash unless you ask otherwise.
Every connected app is listed in your shop admin with the date it connected. One click revokes it, immediately.
What it can reach
Each area can be switched off for the whole shop, or allowed for one assistant and not another.
